L.C.O             The organization of companies

It seems necessary to begin by reading the introduction written by JD Warnier in his book L.C.O, We will then study the major steps of his approach, good reading.

INTRODUCTION :

The organization of the company is primarily a problem of men. If the relationship between the members of the company is good, if everyone occupies the position that suits him best, there is a good chance that everything will go well.

However, it is clear that good working relations and good understanding do not solve all problems. The organization must be structured in a coherent manner and this logical organization must be clear, simple and evolving because of the changing constraints to which every organization is subject.

To solve this problem, it is customary to define the hierarchical organization in order to know who has the decision-making power. It seems that the determination of the organizational chart, often takes priority over the functional organization by means of which rules are defined which specify the flows of production.

The person who places orders is not the "boss" of the producer. This does not prevent the "customer" from controlling the execution of the orders he has given. Determining the rules of control is essential if the work is to be preserved.

In the pages that follow, we do not pretend to deal with the human problems of the company. On the other hand, we claim to provide the basic elements of its logical organization.

Experience shows that many technical conflicts are the manifestation of psychological incompatibilities.
On the other hand, many disagreements that seem to be based on psychological causes are based on a lack of operating rules. These rules constitute a true "legal system" for the company.

"No one is supposed to ignore the law", but who really can know it if, on the one hand, the laws are too numerous, unclear and sometimes contradictory and if, on the other hand, the communication of the laws to all concerned, is practically not realized. This inevitably brings us to the problem of information and informatics.

In order for the company to live and evolve, information about its environment and its internal functioning must be captured and made available.

Much of the information is obtained by human means which escape all logic. On the other hand, current companies can not operate until the share of information that can not be obtained directly by man, is not made available through the computer system.

The object of our study is to investigate how to organize logically:

1 °) The system of rules that govern the operation of the company.
2 °) The computer system.

In both parts of our work we will constantly have the concern to design systems made to evolve, respecting the creativity and initiative of the men who drive them.
